Join me for an inspiring episode with Dr. Nakia Baylis, the dynamic President & CEO of The Village Network of Battle Creek—a coalition of nonprofits in West Michigan led by people of color. Dr. Baylis masterfully steers strategic planning, partnerships, and grant initiatives to uplift marginalized communities.
A proud alumna of Western Michigan University, Dr. Baylis holds a B.A. in Applied Liberal Arts, an M.A. in Educational Leadership, and a Ph.D. in Evaluation, Measurement, and Research. Her journey from teaching to community advocacy was sparked by the challenges faced by her elementary students.
In our conversation, Dr. Baylis shares insights into The Village Network’s mission for sustainable change and resource equity, focusing on Black, Latino, and Burmese communities. She passionately discusses the power of understanding your "why" and the necessity of forging genuine relationships.
Dr. Baylis highlights the pressing need for systemic change, advocating for policies and practices that embrace inclusivity. She calls for collective action, urging us all to vote, engage with legislators, and support advocacy groups to drive genuine transformation.
Tune in and be inspired to take action!
